So in
June of last year Jubal (who does not use a last name) decided
to pay for his own album. And while recording, he met the people
from CueZone records, a production company based in Denver, that
finally worked for him.
The debut record,
titled "Jubal," was released to the media in November
and its songs have been playing regularly on Front Range radio
stations. Apart from Jubal, the lineup is completed by Kevin Berry
on bass, Chris Meisner on drums and Jarad Astin on keyboards.
Jubal is launching
his record in Summit County today with a performance at Chill
in Frisco. The cover for the show is $2 and tickets will be sold
at the door.
They will be playing
all the songs on the new CD. "I write a lot about politics,"
said Jubal. "I majored in political science and minored in
music, so politics is one of the biggest themes in my compositions."
He also writes fun stuff, he said, but the majority of his music
has to do with the political scenario.
Jubal moved to
Boulder around two years ago and, after eight months, decided
Nederland was more his scene. "I didn't want to be near the
mountains, I wanted to be in the mountains," he said.
He continued to
perform regularly in Boulder, both solo and with his reggae ensemble
"Root Boys," and his jam improvisation project "Lucid
Aoouishes."
"I'd love
my music to be famous but I don't know that I'd want to give up
my anonymity," he said. "In a couple of years, I'd like
to be touring internationally."
